CURRICULUM
INSTRUMENT CLASS
Campers are separated in their instrument class and participate in small group and individual lessons. Our instructors focus on specific topics such as improvising, rhythm, phrasing, and technique to develop students’ musical skills.
ART/PROMO CLASS
With their bandmates, campers will come up with their own band names. A workshop will be held by an art/design specialist. Each band will create and design their band logo and promotional material, such as a backstage pass, album cover, and concert poster. Campers will also learn computer design in a state-of-the-art computer facility.
BAND REHEARSAL
Under the guidance of their band leaders, campers are placed in a band according to age, ability, and musical preference. It is here that they collaborate in creating original music, and learn cover songs to perform. Campers may also request to be grouped with their friends.
RECREATION
During scheduled breaks, our recreation leader arranges both indoor and outdoor activities to lighten the stress of rocking out!
WORKSHOPS
Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to experience a variety of topics such as:
- Rock History 101
- Drumming/Rhythm
- Songwriting/lyrics
- Music Theory
- Stage Prep
- Promotional Art
- Ear training
- Recording (2 week program)
- Music Video (2 week program)
CLINICS
At the end of each day, guest artists and ROCK CAMP faculty members put on interactive performance clinics. These clinics are an opportunity for students to perform with professionals.
2 WEEK SESSION
In our 2 week program, you and your band will further develop your sound and concept. Recording sessions are the focus of the second week, where your band will produce original music for a professional demo album and related art work for all promotional materials. Your band will also create an original music video to be included with your promotional materials package. Promotional tips, techniques and general industry info will also be discussed.
